Sportfishing in Punta Cana, DR

Updated: Jun 14, 2022

Who doesn't love a good fish story? We figured why not tell a few of our own.

Welcome to our blog where we'll tell fish stories of our own, tales from our customers around the world, and tips and tricks in the sportfishing game.

Last week, our family flew to Punta Cana, Dominican Republic to fish with our friend and world-renowned captain, Tim Richardson.

We were lucky enough to tag a billfish by the time we left!

We found a beautiful house to rent in Punta Cana Resort, and the staff was beyond helpful from the minute we touched down to the second we left.

Capt Tim is also wicked good at golf, so we played 18 holes with him and the family at La Cana. Holes 17 and 18 were on the ocean, so we got to see how much seaweed were were about to endure offshore! ⛳️

The first day fishing on the Chaser was the best day. With the help of Timmy and our mate, Luis, from Isla Mujeres, MX, 3 different people caught 3 different white marlin. 🎣

We got to put our rods to the ultimate test!

It was Nick's first billfish, so we of course pushed him in the water when we got back to the dock. Never forget your first.

Poor Ava got sea sick, but she rallied. Back at the house, we cooked chicken on the grill and ate snacks by the pool.

The next day offshore we saw a few whites but they did not take the bait.

Nick hooked a wahoo and got it all the way to the boat. Unfortunately, the fish cut through the mono. Sad.

The third day we went to the beach, but the seaweed was really bad so we went to the blue water springs. Absolutely amazingly beautiful. We swam for a while and headed for another afternoon with Tim Richardson on the Chaser.

We had some teaser bites, but no actual bites. Ava applied the seasick patch and did not get sick. Grilled salmon for dinner and the next morning we waited on our driver to take us to the airport.

We did not want to leave.

Check out our friend Capt. Tim here.

Thanks for checking out our first blog! Stay tuned for the next!
